Knox hung out with Pop during the afternoon until Nani got off work. From what we understand, Knox had a big time. You have to be careful what you ask grandparents. Sometimes it's best just not knowing. Grandparents spoil 'em quick!
When we got back late Friday evening, Knox was snuggled up in the bed with Pop. They looked so sweet!
We spent Saturday hanging out, eating, and shopping. It was so nice not having an agenda! Knox, who didn't feel good, took a super long nap. We woke him up so we could eat dinner with Uncle Joe, Aunt Candice, and Lexi. That must not have been the greatest idea because he was cranky! Our meal was still delicious though, and it was great eating together as a family.
Daddy and I made a last minute decision to come home Saturday night, since Knox wasn't feeling well. Before we left, Knox lit up in delight when Pop let him open and close the garage door (over and over again).
I love how Knox reminds us so often, "It's the little things."
Our time spent in Birmingham was wonderful, but things went downhill after we left. Our journey home was quite an adventure, and it's one Daddy and I probably won't ever forget! Knox was in his carseat sleeping soundly when Daddy advised we turn off the XM radio to listen to a local station. He was concerned because the weather was getting so bad.
We had not finished listening to the first song when the National Weather Service interrupted. There was a tornado warning in the town we were driving through. We got off the four-lane to find a place "to hide." After driving a few miles with no luck, we decided we were just getting closer to the storm, so we turned around and got back on the highway.
The next alert came on - and sure enough, it was a tornado warning for next town we'd just gotten to. Knox was screaming, and all I wanted to do was hold him in my arms, but that was the last thing I needed to do. Knox is not afraid of storms yet, but he could obviously sense something was wrong. We finally stopped under a bridge, along with several other vehicles.
After confirmation from Pop, we finally continued on once the tornadoes were gone away from us. Needless to say, we were tickled to finally see our house when we arrived home!
